In the serene town of Funsi, a beacon of hope shone brightly as Bliss Eye Care, a dedicated eye clinic in Wa, extended its compassionate reach to the heart of the Wa East Constituency. This act of benevolence garnered praise from Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, the esteemed Member of Parliament representing the area.

Dr. Jasaw hailed Bliss Eye Care for their noble initiative, bringing essential eye screening services directly to the doorstep of the local community. Acknowledging the rarity of such services in the Wa East District, the MP emphasized the invaluable significance of regular eye checkups, applauding the clinic’s efforts to ensure free access to vital care for those in need.

During a candid conversation with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) amidst the eye screening event orchestrated by Bliss Eye Care, Dr. Jasaw underscored the critical importance of interventions like these. He emphasized the potential of such initiatives to safeguard precious eyesight, preventing avoidable conditions that could lead to vision loss.

The altruistic venture, coined as “Blissful Sight for Kids (BS4Ks),” mirrored the clinic’s enduring commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with a keen focus on children’s eye health. Dr. Jasaw, actively involved in collaborative efforts with Bliss Eye Care since 2019, emphasized the paramount significance of preserving eye health within the constituency.

“The eye is an irreplaceable treasure in the human body. Neglecting regular checkups might lead to unforeseen issues like cataracts or glaucoma, causing irreversible harm. Initiatives like this free screening play a pivotal role in preserving our community’s eyesight,” elucidated Dr. Jasaw.

The community event witnessed an impressive turnout, with 263 individuals benefitting from the comprehensive eye screening. Of these, 45 were identified with normal eye conditions, while 165 required medication for pathological issues. Additionally, 36 needed eyeglasses due to refractive errors, and 17 individuals were identified with cataracts and glaucoma, necessitating immediate attention and care.

Bliss Eye Care, led by the dedicated Dr. Zakarea Al-Hassan Balure, went beyond mere screenings, providing medications, free eyeglasses, and expert referrals for those in need of further medical attention.

Urging the community to prioritize their eye health, Dr. Balure stressed the importance of regular checkups and encouraged locals to leverage such free screening opportunities.

Partnering with Bliss Eye Care, Afro-Pop Sensation Miss Nuela Wiyaala, a native of Funsi, lauded the initiative. She underscored the scarcity of eye care services in the area, particularly due to limited accessibility and associated costs. The collaboration aimed to bridge this gap, offering essential eye care on an altruistic platter.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Mr. Charles Lunaga Salidong, a teacher benefiting from the screening, lauded Bliss Eye Care for transforming lives. He received a reading aid, alleviating his struggles with reading, all at no cost.

As Bliss Eye Care continues its philanthropic journey, its unwavering dedication to improving eye health shines as a beacon of hope, touching lives and preserving precious eyesight in the serene corners of Ghana.
